Next Meeting

After the October 28 Zoom meeting, the club is taking a break from meetings until at least March 2021. The executive will still be working but we won’t be doing Zoom, or anything in person, until spring.

The October meeting is on Wednesday October 28 at 7 p.m. For the Zoom link to join, please contact Christina:  cmbabcock (at) gmail.com

October meeting with Daniel Coleman features a very special guest: author and McMaster Professor Daniel Coleman. After briefly talking about his award-winning book Yard Work: A Biography of an Urban Place, Daniel will participate in a moderated discussion with participation from attendees.

Daniel was to share the stage with Lorraine Johnston at a lecture event on March 18, 2020. With COVID-19 forcing a cancellation, we are so glad to have him at our meeting to talk about some of the themes in his book

You are strongly encouraged to read Daniel’s book before the meeting. The City and The City Books  (Ottawa Street North, at Cannon) has several copies and you’re encouraged to support our local bookseller. Club members who have finished reading their copies may want to lend them to attendees in advance of the meeting. Check in on the club’s Facebook group for details.

Here are some links to help you learn about Daniel’s work.
